Enclosed in a refined and elegant collection box that reproduces one of the decorations of the historic Caffè in St. Mark’s Square, the “Esse” biscuits are an excellent gift idea to satisfy the most gluttonous palates.
Esse or Buranei biscuits come from Burano, the multicoloured island of fishermen that is famous for its lacework. The name derive from their “S” shape. These biscuits were made by the fishermen’s and sailors wives and they acted as a food store because they keep well even in bad weather and damp condition. They were probably not sweet at the beginning but with the addition of molasses, and sugar later, became the traditional Easter sweetmeat.
This 100% Florian version is prepared using only the highest quality ingredients, preserving the original recipe of these traditional biscuits.
